JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Summary of Position: Help oversee the care and upkeep of the facility. (Lights, grounds and advanced maintenance of equipment.) Oversee the B, C and D level maintenance employees. Download and upload programs, makes adjustments to programs under OEM’s guidelines. Work closely with GmbH.
Essential Job Requirements: Must able to interpret PLC programming logic and hardware; both Allen Bradley and Siemens products. Must understand how plc’s integrate with peripheral equipment.
- Must be able to modify and manipulate PLC ladder logic under management and OEM recommendations.
- Must be able to troubleshoot equipment and be able to repair or replace defective components.
- Cleans, adjusts, aligns and lubricates equipment in compliance with plant preventative maintenance programs.
- Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics, machine blue prints and equipment manuals to repair and diagnose machine failures.
- Must be able to perform routine maintenance such as inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions.
- Must be able to install service panels, 110, 220 and 480. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other electrical components.
- Must be able to operate general shop tools, hi-lows, boom truck, overhead crane and diagnostic equipment such as ammeters, multi-meters, and helium detection equipment.
- Must be able to train and give direction to lower maintenance levels on general repairs, diagnostic methods and machine specific processes.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Must be able to implement proper lock out tag out procedures to ensure safety of plant personnel.
- Must have advanced knowledge of general building repairs such as HVAC, garage doors repairs, utility hookups and general facilities maintenance.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Must be able to multi-task and understand priorities of work being performed.
- Must have good communication and people skills.
- Must be able to adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand tools or power tools.
- Calibrates, maintains, and analyzes various flow and measuring equipment;
- Cleans work areas upon completing a project for the safety of staff and the maintenance of buildings;
- Overhauls machines by tearing down equipment, removing, and repairing or replacing damaged machine parts;
- Use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to update database with information regarding the status of assigned work orders;
- Help ensure that break room and bathrooms are kept clean.
Required Education: Some College required.
Required Experience: At least 5 years experience in industrial maintenance setting. Experience in PLC programming a must. Strong electrical, plumbing and PC Background required.
Required Skills: Good teamwork and communication skills. Must be able to read blue prints and understand instructions written in English. Must be able to work independently, with little to no supervision. Conscientious with attention to detail. Must have plumbing experience, machining experience, electrical and hydraulics experience. Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job. Must have Electric trouble shooting skills, welding experience and be able to set-up and run all machines. Experience installing equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and lift 50+ pounds. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. Must be able to lift arms over head. Must be able to work under high temperature conditions. Must be able to pass a vision, and color blind test. Must have the ability to keep or regain body balance or stay upright when in an unstable position.
Working Conditions: Works indoors, in high temperatures at times. Is exposed to carbon dust. PPE will be provided.
